This evening I would like to introduce a Toronto/Montreal based producer that goes by the name of Wise Beats. This up-and-coming student by day producer by night hits on the high points of rap, R+B and hip-hop. Hailing from his unreleased EP titled Perce, Jordan Wise presents us with "Beyonce": a deep house yet minimalist instrumental that hovers around 60 bpm. The track samples fellow Torontonian Drake's "Girls Love Beyonce" (or to go even further, Destiny's Child's "Say My Name"), while subsequently reminding us of Cyril Hanh's rendition titled "Say My Name", who drew inspiration from the same musical vein.
The smooth bassline relays in and out, surrounded by the warmness provided by the synth and The Weekend-esque vocals. It's chopped and screwed, but almost unnoticeably, similar to what we might expect to hear from Aussie native Ta-Ku. "Beyonce" is funk-driven and laced with electronic vibes that silhouette the entire piece. It proves emotional stature, gaining momentum with every minimalist yet enunciated drop.
"Beyonce" roots from the same bedrock as "Sky" and "The City", past releases of Wise Beats that show consistency in quality and diversity of sound.
The Perce EP is set to be released in late November of this year. Keep your ears out.
