Underground pioneer Gui Boratto has dipped his toes in a number of styles over his long-standing career, and 2013 has been no different. From a hard-hitting 8-track techno release The K2 Chapter to his popular guitar-based remix of Wankelmut’s “My Head Is A Jungle”, the Brazilian producer has shown that his production skills aren't pigeonholed to one specific sound.
This time he teams up with the Spanish-based Galaktika Records and Venezuelan label boss Maurice Aymard for their latest single, “Home”. A purely instrumental deep house joint, the two fuse a walking bassline with jazzy synths on top. It’s a sophisticated sound that tells a story rather than simply looping in perpetuity, and was recorded during a an intense 24-hour recording session between the two producers. If you’re a fan of Joris Voorn’s latest “Ringo”, you’ll find the same warmth in “Home”; it’s as smooth as it is soulful, with enough snappy kicks to start the dancefloor at the beginning of the night. Look for this one as the leadoff single to Aymard’s debut album Between Stars, where we’ll hope to hear more well-crafted house music from this South American talent.
