The Chain Gang of 1974 – Miko (Blood Diamonds Remix) [Premiere]

August is almost over. College students are making their way back into the hollowed halls of academia and young-professionals are trading their flip-flops for button ups. Summer is coming to an end. As I say my salutations, I reflect on the songs of my summer and as nostalgia overtakes me, a tune pops into my head. Often times, I wish that there was a soundtrack to my life because I am always conducting my own symphony to coincide with this crazy beautiful life. For the lonely days there is “Jesus Christ” by Brand New, the joyous days there is “So Insane” by Discovery— every moment has its’ own melody.

When I first heard “Miko,” the latest single from The Chain Gang of 1974, my mind immediately ventured down a nostalgic road to summer’s past. This sun-kissed melody is dripping in the blissful nectars of Summer. “We’re throwing rocks off the cliffside,” the chorus reverberates, jet-setting us back to simpler times spent with those whom we hold close. Los Angeles based producer Blood Diamonds puts a euphoric chilled out vibe to the track, just when you thought things couldn’t get any better. “Miko” is the first single to be released from TCGO1974 since their debut album Wayward Fire was released in 2011. “Miko” is off their upcoming sophomore LP which is set for release in 2014.  Check the tune out and float off to a distant beach as you reminisce.
