The last time Drake passed DJ Khaled a record featuring MMG Boss, Rick Ross, and his own Young Money CEO, Lil Wayne, it instantly became a summer anthem. “No New Friends” is cut from the same cloth and it’s almost crafted in the exact image of the now immortalized “I’m On One”, but it’s even more ambitious. Originally a “Started From the Bottom (Remix)”, the record further establishes a theme that has become Drake’s motif in recent months: those outside of your circle are not to be trusted. Produced by Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib, the song has the universal appeal we’ve grown accustomed to getting from Drake, and with such big names on the marquee it’s only a matter of time before the song becomes a smash hit. “No New Friends” will appear on DJ Khaled’s 7th studio album, Suffering From Success, which is due out later this year.
