NiceFingers is the partnership of David Schneider and Nick Waterhouse whose goal is to create unique lifting music using bass music. NiceFingers first came to fruition in the Midwest, seeing as the DJ scene was lacking in the area. Now based out of Los Angeles, the duo is in full force as they draw on both of their extensive musical backgrounds. At first, the two were living in separate continents. Now, their love for music has finally brought them together to bang out their first official EP, ImagiNative, which dropped January 7 through Street Ritual. As we know, bass music can be pretty heavy at times, so I first wondered how they were going to produce creative, uplifting tunes in this particular branch of music. ImagiNative is quick to answer my question.

This EP is four songs long, though it can still rattle some bones. The opening track "Starlights" features vocalist Jillian Ann singing over some saturated bass with dashes of tropical flavor. After my first listen-through of the EP, I honestly was a little puzzled by this first track seeing as the other three tunes are very different. Perhaps the duo wanted to expand their sound horizon on this EP to a new field of vocals. Either way, it's still a great track, though the more engaging tracks follow soon after. The follow-up track breathes more life in ImagiNative, as it brings the heat to the next level. "Subaqua" sets off of the reoccurring theme of contrasting the heavy, pulsating bass in the background with high-pitched chimes and synths that often resonates a slight chill factor. Each of the tracks carry this particular characteristic, as if it was the auditory persona of Schneider and Waterhouse. Along with said characteristic, they infuse the aspects of multiple genres within, such as house, chillstep, and disco. Stream below and put away those spirit fingers. It's NiceFingers' turn.

The name is Phil. I've been with EARMILK for handful of years now. I love all sorts of music, and I tend to change up what type of music I'm into throughout the year. However, one thing is certain: I love anything chill and mellowed out. A lot of the time, you'll see me covering smooth, chilled out grooves through our infamous Daily 2% series. 80 BPM is love, 80 BPM is life.
