Tom Cascino, a.k.a. Broke For Free, is from Northern California and boasts well-refined sounds that you can't say no to. He is one of those electronic producers who won't stay hush-hushed into a single corner of music. Rather, Broke For Free's style sways from genre to genre, making it hard to pinpoint. Though there are consistent characteristics to his tunes, such as having textured layers, resonating that "chilled" feel, and utilizing a pulsating beat. Today at EARMILK, we bring you a first look at Broke For Free's latest and most recent EP, Gold Can Stay. The EP is in actuality an international collaborative piece of work between Broke For Free and Mark Edwards, who initiated the EP by sending him layered guitar harmonies. Thus, the project was born.

Gold Can Stay has been getting lots of hype as of recently. His single "The Gold Lining" triumphed at #1 on Hypem, along with his remix of "Cherry" by Ratatat that reached #3. Needless to say, Broke For Free may now be zeroed in on that sweet sound that many artists continually search for. Powering two tracks into the #1 and #3 spot on Hypem in the same week is no easy task. To pull that off, Broke For Free must have been on top of his game and is surely now bringing the goods. Gold Can Stay is a four-track EP that exemplifies his excellent production skills and his sharp ear to mix chill with a head-bobbing beat. Usually, that would be my cue to segue into a track to which I say showcases this particular sound, but frankly, all four tracks fall into that description. So take this opportunity to lick your chops and stream below to get your early nibbles out of Broke For Free's EP, Gold Can Stay.

The name is Phil. I've been with EARMILK for handful of years now. I love all sorts of music, and I tend to change up what type of music I'm into throughout the year. However, one thing is certain: I love anything chill and mellowed out. A lot of the time, you'll see me covering smooth, chilled out grooves through our infamous Daily 2% series. 80 BPM is love, 80 BPM is life.
