Welcome back for this week's edition of Straight No Chase, your one-stop shop source for all things hip-hop here on EARMILK. This comprehensive weekly feature aims to share hip-hop based content we may have missed during the past week, while also highlighting memorable content we did cover. In addition to the recap of our best hip-hop posts, SNC also includes a Video of the Week, Project of the Week, and a brief list of recently released noteworthy projects and upcoming releases.
As any hip hop head worth their salt knows, these days music floods the blogosphere by the millisecond. Consequently, the landscape of hip-hop is forever changing. There are countless rappers, both established and up-and-coming, as well as renowned and budding producers and beatsmiths dropping their fair share of dope music for the listening masses. It is our mission to mine the interweb for both audio and visual gems, delivering them straight to you for your auditory consumption. But enough with the jaw jacking: let's cut straight to the chase.
STRAIGHT KILLER, NO FILLER
Though people may get the impression that music bloggers and writers are freaks of nature who robotically comb the Internet for music, never missing a beat, I am here to assure you that we too are fallible humans who in the process of bringing dope music to the masses, may miss a good banger or two along the way.
This week's delivery includes a track from California producer Jansport J's latest compilation, a collaborative track from Rick Ross and T.I. off Maybach Music Group's recently released Self Made Vol. 2 LP, a leak from Detroit emcee FowL's upcoming album, Tall Tale which is set to dropJuly 11, as well as a Michael Uzowuru produced joint from UK emcee Eli Prince.

FRIDAY FLASHBACK
Here's a five track flashback of some of the best hip-hop covered this week on EARMILK. Take a couple of minutes to stroll down memory lane and revisit a handful of tracks brought to you earlier in the week. Lupe Fiasco captured headlines early in the week with the release of the second single off his upcoming Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1.
The latter half of week saw the mysterious unofficial leak of a KickDrums produced collaborative track from Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky (which according to Rocky was simply a freestyle reference track) as well as the second single from Big Boi's forthcoming solo effort, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, which features Texas legend Pimp C gracing the mic from beyond the grave.
For those who may have been snoozing at the wheel, here's your chance to play catch up:
VIDEO OF THE WEEK
Capitol Heights,Maryland native Tommy Flyguy and cohorts Boone Jetson and Billy Mercurydecided to revisit their Shack & TheFirm sponsored collaborative mixtape, Diary Of A Stoner to provide their Dope Dreamaz produced track "1st Time" with a fitting visual treatment. With shots of plenty of greenery and the crew chilling at the beach courting some bikini-clad ladies, the song and its accompanying visual have a timely mellow summertime vibe. Is it me or does Billy Mercury look like a young Posdnuos (of De La Soul). You know back when he had hair, sported a hi-top fade and Coke bottle frames and was neck deep into the D.A.I.S.Y. movement. No, well maybe that's just me.

PROJECT OF THE WEEK
KALEEM "$INCERE" WASIF – BEETS (BEAT TAPE)
One half of the hip-hop duo Blakface and Asiatic Rhythms' in-house producer Kaleem "$incere"Wasif has blessed the listening masses with his debut instrumental project Beets. For his cleverly titled beat tape Sincere drew inspiration from Nickelodeon's classic animated sitcom Doug.Yeah, I'm referring to the original Nicktoon which featured everyone's' favorite beet loving, maladjusted and downright socially awkward preteen, Doug Funnie. The California beatsmith provides the memorable 90s cartoon with an eclectic soundtrack ranging soulful and jazzy sample-based instrumentals to more contemporary uptempo cuts. Fans of Doug will be glad to know there are plenty of audio clips from the show interspersed throughout the 37-track tape. Doug fan or not the beats alone on this tape make this project worth checking out.If you're a 90s baby like myself, be ready for some tracks to trigger some childhood memories. (Download)
