Legendary soul survivor singer-songwriter/musician Bobby Womack's career has undoubtedly experienced a resurgence following his appearance on the Gorillaz' 2010 album, Plastic Beach. With a new album on the way, XL Recordings has released a mini documentary which gives viewers a behind the scenes look at the making of Womack's forthcoming album, The Bravest Man In The Universe. The clip features footage of Bobby in the studio with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn and XL label boss Richard Russell during album sessions dating back to late 2011. In the vid, Womack discusses the initial apprehension and self-doubt he experienced before returning to music, the nature of his collaboration with Albarn and Russell and what Womack described as some of his best recording sessions ever. Check out the short documentary and keep Mr. Womack, who recently was diagnosed with colon cancer, in your prayers.
The Bravest Man In The Universe available June 12 via XL Recordings.
