The inaugural release on the new PRISM imprint comes from UK-based abstract hip-hop beatsmith Jon Phonics, whose Grid Games is a smooth, funky six-track EP with influences from electronica, 2-step, and, in his own words, "tropical um bongo bass music". The EP is comprised entirely of collaborations with names including Ghost Mutt, BUG, Pete Cannon, Jeeks, Jaisu, Kidkanevil, and, in the exclusive download from the album's digital extras that we're serving up below, S-Type (sharing space on the LuckyMe roster with Rustie, Hudson Mohawke, Machinedrum, Lunice, and more, so you can trust it's a genre-twisting, wonky delight).
You can grab your own copy of Grid Games on vinyl on February 6 or digital February 20. Read on to stream clips from the full EP.
