Italia shows no signs of stopping when it comes to dishing out fresh acts regardless of what the current trends say. Pioneers of the last decade, the country housed visionaries that set the ground work for the public's latest craving, hard hitting electro. After being coaxed into the mainstream it became difficult to tell where Italy's underground would lead a solid progression. This is when the duo Keith & Supabeatz comes into the picture. Leaning on their national influences, these two have created a style that mixes overdriven electro and fidget percussion with elements of techno, deep house, and juke. Creating a trend setting sound wrapped in their own nation's flag. So its no surprise that the majority of this hour is filled with tracks you won't be hearing until 2012. With collaborative appearances by Lazy Ants and Tony Senghore, the boys have spoiled us with the future fruits of their labour. Keep an ear out for sinking techno drops in remixes by Modek, NT89, and SCNTST who really give the tape a dark hue while Botnek, His Majesty Andre, and of course the men behind the mixing desk drive each minute with force and ingenuity. EARMILK: First I'd love to know who influences you guys because it seems like your sound stems from a wide range of different music styles that go beyond just club music.

Keith & Supabeatz: We grew up listening to tons of electronic, house and hip hop music. To name only a few: from Daft Punk (of course) to Dr. Dre, from Todd Edwards to St. Germain, from Les Rythmes Digitales to Chemical Brothers, from Motorbass to Green Velvet and so on. We like anything that's well produced music and we also find inspiration from movies, images, colors, cities, food and real life.

EM: So what would you say Keith & Supabeatz sounds like and where do you see yourselves fit in in respect to the scene? Personally I can't pigeonhole you two since some of your most recent works have a touch of fidget but at the same time sound very techno.

K&S: Well, that's really not an easy question. We usually don't like to define our music. Classifying genres can be so boring but we know human genres are always going to need genre classifications. So our sound is somewhere between chicago jackin house, techno, acid and ghetto music, more or less and we always try to keep it original.

EM: How would you stack up the music scene in Italy today compared to Berlin, Paris, or the rest of Europe?

K&S: The Italian scene is surely growing up. It's not been easy during the latest years but every city is starting to have its own party, more or less, and the Italian crowd has always been good. Outside of Italy's, we've played 4 times in Paris this year and we're never disappointed, it really is burning! Not to forget to mention the awesome parties and crowd in Japan and South Korea. We also had some great gigs in Belgium, Germany, England, Scotland, Spain and Switzerland.

EM: It seems like a lot of Italian producers have a nonsensical approach when it comes to making music. When you guys sit down to make a track do you always try to keep it fun with the party in mind?

K&S: Haha indeed! Remember we're Italian so maybe that "nonsensical" fun approach is ingrained in our brain. Of course, it's not all about that, it's important to keep it "serious" and work hard. But to answer your question: definitely yes, we never forget about the mood of the party.

EM: What does 2012 look like for Keith &Supabeatz? Name me some new EPs and remixes you're excited about.

K&S: 2011 has been a GREAT year for us musically speaking. We've played all over the world and met so many people, we found an awesome booking agency and our management team. We had the opportunity to remix great artists, work with great labels and release 2 new EPs ("No Pressure" and "Pressure") through our home Southern Fried Records. Last but not least, we co-produced a track on the new Crookers album "Dr. Gonzo".

2012 is looking exciting already: we're working on our next single, it'll have vocals by an upcoming Italian talent and a legend is also remixing it, can't tell you more but expect something BIG! Also, new cool collabs are in the making (Botnek, Tony Senghore, Lazy Ants, Slap in The Bass, Wax Motif & Neoteric). 2012 FTW.
