Active Child is the one-man creation of Philadelphia-based musician Patt Grossi. For the past six to seven years, Grossi has been writing and producing his own music while only performing them in the last year and half.
Growing up in Philly, Grossi was actively involved with an all-boys choir group touring and performing in locations all over the world. Since his move to solo producing, Grossi has developed his own choir-like, trademark vocals incorporated in many of his songs, paying tribute to his time in the group.
In 2010, Grossi brought Active Child to light with the release of his debut EP, Curtis Lane EP. An album of a variety of emotions, Curtis Lane EP was met with positive feedback from critics and newly found fans. The album projected Grossi to the spotlight that led him to share the stage with James Blake, Seven Bells, White Lies, and White Rabbit.
Following the successful release, Grossi went back into the studio to begin production of his next LP.
Early this year, Active Child's new single "Hanging On" was featured in the 2011 Adult Swim Singles Program, a 10-week music feature created by the late-night Cartoon Network program that saw the release of a new single every week from a variety of artists including: How To Dress Well, The Tallest Man On Earth and Best Coast.
The feature gave Active Child fans an opportunity to preview Grossi's upcoming album, You Are All I See, the Curtis Lane EP follow-up to be released on August 23 via Vagarant.
According to Active Child's website, Grossi talks about the origin of the album title by stating, "You Are All I See is an attempt to build a bridge between the listener and I, in that, I wrote these songs for you as much as I did for me. And right now when you are listening to my voice, by yourself, it really is just you and I."
With the release only a week away, The Hype Machine is currently streaming the entire album. Check out You Are All I See below and make sure to pick it on August 16.
