Darkstar were "post dubstep" before, whichever bored journalist who coined the term, existed. Labelled a cross between Radiohead, garage and some synthy Cali rock/pop band all rapped up and made to stew in dubstep and bass weight for a good few months, serve with gravy and peppered sauce for best results.
After a bucket load of time spent on their first album , they decided that it was actually shit and binned the entire thing. Which meant the duo were literally gearing up for life on the streets, not in the urban bad man way, more like the skint artist out on their arse kind of way.
Luckily though they sorted their shiz out, and the album dropped late last year. This is not mainstream, nor is it for a club. It is a kind of dubstep, bass sound reserved for personal reflection and meditation, beautiful, ambient and perfect for chillin the fck out. Or if your into the dark arts or twisted sexy stuff maybe some of that too.
