In 2011, when Lovebirds’ “Want You In My Soul” was first released, it captured the hearts of million of dance music lovers and clubbers alike after it basically laid down a modern blueprint for melodic deep house and it was Shazamed more than 200,000 times, had over 2.2 million Spotify streams, and several million combined YouTube plays. Now, years later, “Want You In My Soul” is getting a rerelease on May 3rd on Island with remixes from the likes of Shiba San and Illyus & Barrientos, and today, the Illyus & Barrientos is getting premiered on Annie Mac, BBC Radio 1.
In the Illyus & Barrientos remix, they set the tone with a crisp, bouncy percussion and driving beat. Beautiful piano chords anchor the track while wandering synths float about, and this is the perfect backdrop to overlay Stee Downes wanting vocals of the original. This combines into a fantastic revision of the original classic.
This is definitely one remix you will not want to miss out on. Pick up a copy when it drops May 3rd on Island.
