A few years ago, I fell in love with the emerging sound of turbofunk. Blending separate elements from classic disco and modern dance music, the twangy melodies built on faster beats combined in perfect harmony and captured my attention from the first full measure. Body Heat, the disco-devoted imprint out of Italy that grew from the noted RESET! group, continues to be a bastion for 70s sound. The label last graced our pages with a Spring/Summer sampler, which featured a variety of turbofunk tacks including "Raw Spank" by Rocoe and Umberto Lumber.
That song dipped back into slow-paced funk that felt ripped right from the pages of dance history. Today Rocoe launches his solo Soundcloud with a touched up version of Cris Cab's "Liar Liar", a worldwide hit that even garnered a feature by one of pop's leading fellows, Pharrell. Picking up the tempo and infusing the track with electro house drops coupled with refined grinds, Rocoe crafts another turbofunk track that promises more from the talented Italian artist.
