Mashup Monday – We're back again with some of the freshest mashes to start your week off right. These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop your searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. Let's GO.
Going with some classics today. Not classic mashups per se, but rather mashups that sample classic tracks. U2? Check. Bee Gees? Yep. Fleetwood Mac? Of course. Heck, I even found a sample that uses Beethoven's 5th Symphony. So these mashups will definitely take you back a bit, but in a good way of course.
Starting off with a mash that I found in Dranoel's "Artists Remixed – Swedish House Mafia" post, we got U2 combined with Swedish House Mafia and I couldn't be happier. I've been listening to U2 since I was little (thanks Mom), and hearing SHM vocals on top of classic U2 just sounds perfect – so we can thank Divide & Kreate for such a chill upbeat mash. Probably the most interesting "classic" mashup is the one that makes use of Beethoven. Koyote takes Wolfgang Gartner's electro version of Beethoven's "5th Symphony" and combines it with Digital Freq's "Street Fighter". The result is an insane electro mash that had me smiling and amped the entire time.
After such an upbeat mash, DJ Fergie Ferg drops the tempo and creates a chill atmosphere with his "Lotus Flower Theory" mashup. If you're looking to unwind and relax, this track will certainly complete that objective and more. But we all know I'm more of an electro and party mashup type of guy. I respect chill mashups 100%, but upbeat is my preference…and DiBella gives me what I want. With 2 tracks off his Binge Infringement EP – "Mozart Got Bent" and "Maximal Kissed" – DiBella delivers what you want for your EDM party. Some of the vocals may be a little overused, but instrumentals for both make up for that easily.
Finally, (while I'm a little late on this and planned on putting this up last week) we got The Jane Doze. These lovely ladies takes Adele and gives her an electro disco feel with Gotye and Sebastian Ingrosso backing her up. Personally, I love the vibe that they create in this mash – a perfect balance of upbeat tempo with meaningful lyrics – which is hard to do. So check out all the tracks below and enjoy this week's installment of Mashup Mondays. Find the ZIP folder on my FB page, which is found in my author contact page.
