Over the last decade or so, Anime has firmly established itself as a force of American culture. Through shows like My Hero Academia, Naruto and Demon Slayer, Anime forced its reputation to transition from a quirky and nerdy obsession to absolutely necessary in order to keep up with the zeitgeist. Having been a fan when it wasn't trendy, rising rapper GameboyJones has taken full advantage of the surge, building a substantial fanbase through singles that pay homage to popular titles. Checking into our page for the first time, he drops off his engaging new single, "Tengen Uzui."
Serving as a tribute to the aforementioned Demon Slayer, "Tengen Uzui" is a fun, bouncy record that finds Gameboy showcasing his strengths without much challenge. Almost immediately, he takes full advantage of the bubbly production from Sai to deliver one of the more infectious intros of the new year as he belts, "I got three bad bitches in the back, I don't know how to act." Shortly after, he allows featured artist Swoodeasu a moment to shine right before taking back command. As he skates through his second verse, crooning about women being demons and keeping them out of your pockets, he further proves that his sheer charisma is what ties together his other abilities as an artist, even going as far as to say, "good morning" in Japanese slyly in the verse.
Take a listen to the single above and be sure to get hip to GameboyJones.
