Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, rising artist Eric Yang had limited options on how to make something of himself. Among those options were military and college, both bleak options for a creative, which led to the birth of Kodoku. Choosing instead to double down on his passion for art, the intriguing artist developed himself into a formidable artist capable of experimenting with different sounds and not staying complacent. Looking to further establish himself among the masses, he checks into our pages for the first time with his engaging new single “Toxins.”

Produced by Nick Nash and Theevoni, “Toxins” is a lyrically engaging record that finds Kodoku crooning about the ultimate vice in his life, women. “I inhaled your toxins, lungs are rotten/You left me here to die, you found then lost me,” are the words that kick off the song, immediately establishing the tone for the rest of the song. Showcasing his knack for melodic progression and endearing lyricism, Kodoku effortlessly slides across the manic production as he bends his vocals in many different ways, also highlighting his wonderful appreciation of how to work auto-tune. In all, “Toxins” is the record you play by yourself, late at night, when you’re looking to embrace all of your feelings.

Take a listen to the single below and get familiar with Kodoku.
