Over the last year, Canadian songwriter Jeff Fettes has reinvented himself through a string of well-received releases under his alter-ego moniker, Riotron. Tapping into his love for electronic music, he harnessed his talents and newfound time during the pandemic to produce some of the more intriguing releases of the year. Looking to further explore this other side, he doubles down as he unveils his festive new collaboration with GOLDHOUSE, "Silent Night."
Intended to be his take on the holiday staple, "Silent Night," finds Riotron and GOLDHOUSE blending different elements together in hopes of paying homage to the classic. Utilizing a knack for melodic progression as well a great sense of pace, "Silent Night," does a brilliant job of avoiding the tackiness usually accompanied by holiday covers. Instead, GOLDHOUSE ditches cliches for dreamy synths, eclectic drum patterns and an angelic vocal performance from Riotron. Still, the record does capture that essence of Christmas as you can faintly hear the sound of sleigh-bells in the back, which serve as a wonderful surprise once they enter your consciousness.
Serving as a well-timed release with December finally upon us, now would be the perfect time to get on board. Check out, "Silent Night," above and get familiar with Riotron.
