Dragonfruit shows massive potential on alluring single "Some Say"

Don't look now, but there is an up-and-coming group out of Rotterdam called Dragonfruit that is absolutely primed to make waves in the realm of alternative R&B. Today the four-piece band has released a spellbinding new single entitled "Some Say," which features fellow Rotterdam artist Triomphe. The track may only be the group's second after "Gears of the Giant Machine" from earlier this year, but it wastes no time in showcasing their stellar musicianship and impeccable taste.

"Some Say" will get audiences' heads bobbing immediately with a bouncy drumbeat and engaging spacey production from keyboardist Anton de Bruin and Sjoerd Huissoon from the Dutch electronic duo Amy Root. Lead singer Danique van der Vlugt's vocal lines glide effortlessly through the mix as she contemplates the impact of opinions and chatter from other people in life. Dragonfruit takes things into the stratosphere in the latter part of the song, as the drums drop out briefly for a dreamy production moment in half time as rapper Triomphe delivers an inventive verse. He spits with dexterous flow before the track closes at a gorgeous musical climax. Dragonfruit may still be new to the international music scene, but "Some Say" shows that this crew is more than ready to take off.
