This might be the widest reaching cross-industry collaboration we've covered in the past year. It's the product of Karen Ruimy, one of Europe's leading flamenco dancers, along with Martin Glover, also known as Youth, whose musical talent has led him to be behind bands like Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney. The two teamed up as ZKI'R to showcase flamenco's influence and expansion across India to Spain, and the experience created by dance and music. Through performance and the release of ZIK’R West, the duo opened up a platform to invite many of today's influential producers to partake in remixing the album. With the participation of artists like Groove Armada, Belanger, Monsieur Adi and Nu Era and Marc Mac, there became a platform in which to combine electronic music with world music history.
Today we have an exclusive first listen to the latter, from UK bass production duo Nu Era's collaboration with Marc Mac of 4hero. The result of all of this international teamwork is something soothing and uniquely atmospheric with a specific world view. Taking into account the flamenco sound and loungey nu disco production, this one is a keeper.
