One of the best things about dance music is its propensity to encourage and promote remixes. Last year, Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow of the renowned Art Department amazed both dance music fan and critic alike with the release of their album Natural Selection. With the departure of Kenny Glasgow from the group to pursue solo endeavors, Jonny White has been mixing the much anticipated next fabric compilation, fabric 82, and now, this week, Art Department is announcing new, official remixes to their track “Walls” off Natural Selection, with one coming out June 8th on No. 19 Records and Ultra Records from Guy Gerber’s protégé and RUMORS Records mainstay Chaim, who’s hot off of his own release of his Can’t Wait to C U EP this week. You can check it out on Beatport today.

Right from the beginning, it is clear that this is a proper tech house rethinking, with a crisp percussion and an almost relaxed yet commanding bass line. Chaim keeps with the darker theme of the original and the suspense in the track is palpable while Chaim’s sparing use of the Kenny Glasgows vocals from the original is perfection. This club-ready remix is not one that should be missed. Pick up a copy when it drops on June 8th.
