Dan Snaith's Caribou project returns this fall with a new LP, Our Love, and a tour. To celebrate, Teen Daze has offered up a free remix of "Sun," the woozy, cyclical cut from Caribou's 2010 album Swim. Explaining the origins of the remix, Teen Daze's Jamison gushes that Dan Snaith is his "hero" and states that "every Caribou record has affected me in a different way."
Dan Snaith is in his own world sonically, so reworking such brilliance is a daunting task. Teen Daze praises Caribou for "shifting sounds and always pushing things in a new, exciting direction," and impressively, he applies this approach to the remix, morphing the track into a completely different entity that is only familiar to an attentive ear. Snaith's vocal is pushed way into the background, and his frantic build is replaced with a funkier, more complacent groove. It's always nice to see a younger artist pay homage to a seasoned vet while simultaneously showcasing their own ability as a producer.
