Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve [Fat Freddy's Drop]

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one "chill" track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We are just your milkmen and I'm here to make a delivery. Chill…

Today's delivery is brought to you by Fat Freddy's Drop. This is a 7 member "Jam Band" that hails from Wellington, New Zealand and luckily I was introduced to these guys by my girlfriend on one of those randomly chill nights. I couldn't believe that I had never heard of them because they make some of the greatest reggae-esque music I've ever heard. The best part of the group is their ability to mix so many genres into a chilled out reggae feel without seeming like they are trying hard. An interesting fact about the origin of their name is that it came from a popular LSD strain at the time of their formation that had an image of "Fat Freddy's Cat" which is a character from a comic. The track I'm bringing to you today is called "Midnight Marauders" and it dropped back in 2003. This is the type of track you have to play over and over while you melt away your worries. Check out the track and chill….

  • you forgot to mention, every song they've made was made-up while improving at their concerts. That's why if you watch them live, the songs sound different than in their actual albums. ALSO! they're well-known musicians in New Zealand from completely different bands. So if you like this shit, then listen to their other bands Bongmaster, Black Seed, and Salmonella Dub. A few of the musicians still play in those bands, too.
